Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the New Arrivals at Hands different from other handmade carpets? +

Every piece in the New Arrivals is handmade in the purest sense, not produced, not manufactured, but brought to life. Woven from wool, silk and bamboo silk, each latest carpet design carries the devotion of master craftsmen who have spent lifetimes perfecting their art. What sets it apart is its soul: design emotion at its best, a preview of the latest, assembled in one place. At Hands, we believe a carpet is not just a floor covering. It is art, and the New Arrivals is a testament to that belief.

Can I have a carpet from the New Arrivals made to my own design and size? +

That is precisely what we love most. With design and production wholly in-house, Hands creates bespoke carpets in our own special way. Some of our finest master weavers bring to life designs created not just for the space, but for its owner. From a fleeting notion to a well-rounded vision, our in-house design studio will realise it in wool, silk and bamboo silk, in any dimension, any colour, any pattern you desire. If you have an idea, however nascent, talk to us. That is where the finest carpets begin. At Hands, the luxury carpet is approached with the same devotion, handmade in the purest sense, since 1881.

What is the New Arrivals by Hands Carpets? +

The New Arrivals is part of Hands Carpets & Rugs' exclusive collection of fine handmade carpets, crafted since 1881, by master weavers who have elevated latest carpet design making into an art form. At its heart, the collection is defined by design emotion at its best, a preview of the latest, assembled in one place. Woven from wool, silk and bamboo silk, every piece is individually produced, handmade in the purest sense, to reflect Hands' core values of originality, craftsmanship, transparency, and impeccable quality. Each carpet in this collection is, in the deepest sense, an expression of individuality. Explore the full collection at https://handscarpets.com/collections/new-arrival.

Which interiors and design styles does the New Arrivals belong to? +

The New Arrivals was conceived with design emotion at its best, a preview of the latest, assembled in one place. It speaks most naturally to interiors that share its sensibility, spaces that value the considered over the commonplace, the crafted over the convenient. Whether that is a contemporary home that prizes restraint and texture, a traditional interior that draws on the richness of heritage, or a transitional space navigating both worlds, the New Arrivals finds its place. Design, at Hands, is not about matching a room. It is about elevating one. At Hands, the luxury carpet is approached with the same devotion, handmade in the purest sense, since 1881.

How do I choose the right size from the New Arrivals for my room? +

Choosing the right new carpet design size is as important as choosing the right design. Here is how we guide our clients:
1. In a living room, choose a size where the front legs of all key furniture rest on the carpet
2. In a bedroom, the carpet should extend at least 60 cm beyond either side of the bed
3. In a dining room, ensure chairs remain on the carpet even when pulled out from the table
4. In a hallway or corridor, the carpet should run the full length, with 10–15 cm clearance on each side
5. When in doubt, our design consultants offer complimentary guidance at all Hands showrooms. A great carpet, in the right size, transforms a room. We help you find it.

Is the New Arrivals suitable for a high-traffic room? +

The answer lies in the construction and fibre. Pieces from the New Arrivals crafted in dense wool carry the resilience of a tradition that has endured for generations, they are built, quite literally, to last lifetimes. For spaces that see quieter, more contemplative life, a bedroom, a study, a formal drawing room, the more delicate silk or bamboo silk pieces reveal their full splendour. Our new carpet design consultants will guide you to the piece that belongs in your space. Talk to us.

How do I care for a carpet from the New Arrivals so it lasts for generations? +

A Hands latest carpet design, cared for with the same devotion with which it was made, will endure for generations. Vacuum gently, on a low setting, never against the pile. Rotate every six months so the light and the foot fall are shared evenly across the weave. If something spills, blot, never rub; the fibres have memory, and patience is always rewarded. A professional clean every year or two will restore the lustre and depth that make wool, silk and bamboo silk so extraordinary. Treat it as the heirloom it is.

What materials and craft techniques define the New Arrivals? +

The New Arrivals is brought to life in wool, silk and bamboo silk, fibres chosen not merely for their quality, but for the particular character they lend to the finished piece. The construction, hand knotted, hand tufted, or hand woven, depending on the design, is executed by artisans who painstakingly work to elevate new carpet design making beyond craft into art. Natural dyes, where the design calls for them, give each carpet a colour depth that deepens, rather than fades, with time. This is how Hands has worked since 1881. This is what it means to say a carpet is handmade in the purest sense.

What defines the New Arrivals by Hands Carpets? +

The New Arrivals is defined by five qualities that have shaped Hands since 1881:
1. Craft, handmade in the purest sense, by master weavers devoted to the art
2. Material, wool, silk and bamboo silk, chosen for character as much as quality
3. latest carpet design emotion, design emotion at its best, a preview of the latest, assembled in one place...
4. Individuality, each piece is unique; no two are identical
5. Longevity, crafted to be passed down, not replaced
